Spittal Pond

Info about Spittal Pond - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spittal_Pond_Nature_Reserve

A quiet day to just relax.  The morning started off a bit cool and overcast with the wind continuing out of the north so did a few chores around the house and relaxed.   The afternoon turned sunny and warm so decided to take a short run down to Spittal Pond which is not to far away.  With the wind out of the north I knew it would be fairly calm here, unlike the normal crashing of waves, so thought it would be interesting to see it in a different view.

Still playing with monochrome conversions and deciding which I like better so there are some duplicates with both colour and mono.  Again tough for me to decide on a laptop screen.   The X100S continues to be a dream to carry around, so much nicer then my big old Nikon gear.

Enjoy.  (Click images for larger view)

 Moooo, who are youuuuuu :-)

Discovered that using Pano mode on the X100S "does not" switch back to colour.

Bermuda Dockyard with some new friends

First full day back on the island in Bermuda!!!!   Today I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mary a friend from Ottawa who works at Stained Glass Stuff and her friend Carol and give them a brief tour of one part of the island - The Royal Naval Dockyard.     They have been here for a week on vacation and are flying back home tomorrow so we only had the one day to hook up.

The intent was to mostly shoot black and white but the day was beautiful with colour.  After a winter of snow and cold I couldn't resist letting the Fuji X100S sing in velvia film mode.  Everything is probably over saturated with blue but I couldn't help it.   Not to mention, post processing sucks on a laptop.  Fortunately I made very few changes to these images.   A crop here and there, some contrast added and a bit of sharpness - done.

Nope, not a real geco

Couldn't resist a bit of black and white

So which one is better?  Colour or Black and White?

Having fun at the Frog and Onion

Carol (left) and Mary - yup, they're hobbits. (well not really, just a big chair - lol)

Saying good bye as they headed off on the ferry

 Cruise ship is in town

The X100S continues to impress me.   Spend less then 30 minutes working on these photos.   Can't say the same of my older DSLR equipment.  I know the sensor is much improved but it was nice to carry a much smaller camera today.   Will continue to be playing with the settings to really get comfortable and need to start taking my time.   But I am finding that most of the pictures I'm taking I am publishing.   Less wasted shots with the EVF.

Till tomorrow!!!  Comments always welcome.

From the Dog Walk Diary's

From my daily walks,   just under a week before I leave for 2 weeks in Bermuda.   Not looking like I will have the new camera and lenses before I go :-(   But it's going to be fun and interesting to shoot Bermuda in 1 focal length using the X100s.

All the pictures below are from the X100S.

Playing with the various film modes to see what captures blue the best.

Behind the house there were a bunch of farms that are now gone, but some of the old stone fences remain, these will be gone shortly as they are developing the area.

Beside the fence, a clearing.  Was there a house here once upon a time?  Playing with the light through the trees.

The homestead.

Moody lake and sky as the ice was melting.

Next day, less moody, in colour.

Playing with some post processing stuff.

Some of the ongoing development.
